A book to change your life! (Well, your living room...)

Spring Ready: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of

Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo

Published in 2011, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is a book targeted for those who are serious hoarders (like myself). Kondo’s approach to the purging-of-all-things-unnecessary process is supposed to help clear both the mind and the living space. Her key discussion revolves around the KonMari method, which helps you focus on the things that evoke positivity and getting rid of the things that do not by asking the vital question ‘Does this spark joy?’

Kondo presents a step-by-step method to tidying up, which only needs to happen once in order for it to be successful in the future. The method follows a particular order (clothing, books, papers, miscellaneous and mementos) that of course, she tackles each criterion with questions that strengthens the decision-making process. The book claims to make you feel more confident and positive, allowing the negative aspects of your life to be removed through the decluttering process. If you need help getting started with your spring clean, or you just don’t know where to start, Marie Kondo’s book might just be for you!
